Christmas! Panic!!

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. Just a couple small things because there’ll be a bigger blog post after the new year to talk about some of the big dumb things that I have planned. First, ARR will end soon because I believe it’s around 60 chapters long. I hope it’s gratifying for the reader who commissioned it that it’s (as usual) way more popular than my normal stories. I have a number of commissions and stories in reserve that can take its place, but I’m honestly unsure about what the best thing to do is. One of the cool things about ARR was that it was long and ongoing, so it was almost like having two ‘main’ stories. I have some other pretty long ones. I don’t know. Bottom line, expect the unexpected until we get things figured out. The Christmas story this year is 11 chapters long, so if my calculations are correct, we start on 12/13 so that it ends on 12/24. November already?!

The Halloween Special ate up most of October and paused everything else; I don’t know if that’s a good or popular way to do things. Particularly since it wasn’t the most lewd-dense VFU story. It was light and hopefully not stressful, which is (I think) the direction that readers want SSS to go in. I’m open to feedback, but I’m thinking we’ll make the Xmas Special this year a little shorter. Like, instead of 12 days of Christmas, maybe we do fewer. I’ve already promised one pairing, so if we want to do a couple of light little vignettes, let’s say I need two more. So, if you read this and you care, DM me with a nomination, for example: “AlicexGlynda” or “ReyxSally” or “RileyxAki”—you know, whoever. Futa and loathing in autumn

  Messiness: FF1 is getting toward the Italian Grand Prix. We are entering the final section of the story, but at the rate I’m going, it’s not coming anytime soon. I’ve put a lot of thought, way more thought than is healthy for an e-smut hobby, into what comes next, but since that’s probably a year away, we can worry about that later. For now, FF1 continues as usual. SS: TIE is, in my opinion, going well. It doesn’t lend itself to the best lewd content, but it’s getting crazy, and the nature of the choices it allows really does give the readers the ability to rewrite the movie. If I can balance this kind of structure with better lewd content, I feel like we’ll be close to peak voter story format. As promised, if there’s another SSS, it’ll be fluffier. Y’all picked the movie, though. Stephanie Brown's Inferno continues on Sundays. Back 2 skool

OK! We should be getting back to normal pretty soon. In no particular order, things that may or may not matter depending on who you ask:  - SSS got skipped this weekend because of chaos, but it will return next weekend with something probably pretty eventful, given what’s going on in the story.  - Spoiler resumes 8/17 . This will be a linear story that will run for a while before we do it big with the third and probably final voting arc about Mayor Babs and the tough choices that she will face.  - We will have AR Returns next week as well, and then we’ll go back to FF1 for a bit. I forgot how insanely long ARR is, so that will be our backup story for a little while yet.  - Halloween approaches and I want to be ready. I will be doing some kind of Halloween special this year, but I haven’t decided on it yet. It should be yuri or futa. Summer is over!

Not technically, but it is for me.  What this means for all the things if you want to know:  Futa Formula 1 – FF1 continues Monday through Thursday as the ‘main’ story, although for various reasons, I won’t hesitate to use backup chapters as necessary. Right now, that’s AR Returns. FF1 will continue this week and then switch to AR for a week or two.   Spoiler – the new Spoiler series should begin in August, and it will be posted on Sundays.  SSS – no changes are planned. Once the current Heat story is finished, the plan is to do something more chille d out with lower stakes. House Semya – HS is weekly now. There will be a new chapter each Friday, and they will be a bit meatier than daily chapters. The plan is to finish Part 1 (which won’t take too long) and then ask the readers what level of voting action they want, if any, and then do Part 2. I feel like we pretty much have to do Part 2 because it would be lame to do a story that builds up this visit to thi...

The Curse of Updates

The CHYOA format, making the most of it, and how it applies to House Semya. Everybody’s different, so I’m not suggesting that there’s any one ‘best’ way to do it, but there are a couple things that I’ve noticed over time that affect how I’m handling my ongoing stories. My favorite is to write something with lots of options and interactivity and post it all at once so that when engaging with it the first time, the readers get to hopefully enjoy having the options and getting to actually click things. I would find it frustrating to have to wait days or weeks for options to appear and waiting for a big multi-branch story to be posted piecemeal would be pretty annoying. We saw this in the latter days of FSC. Writing up all that material with all those choices is a lot of work, but it’s also fun, so that’s not the problem. The problem is getting people to actually see that story. This isn’t just true of CHYOA; it’s true of most similar sites, but stories get bumped to the top when they’...

House Semya

There’s a lot to unpack here. My last blog post talked about why we went with family values as the theme for House Semya, now let’s talk about the rest. I had three mostly separate challenges with this story: how go about telling a fantasy story and how to do a family story and have them at least mostly succeed at being kind of sexy. On fantasy, I thought about my own experiences reading fantasy novels and things I’ve read about other people reading them. I looked at some of the eroticism in things like Game of Thrones, and observed how even old-timey fantasy was massively horny. I concluded that from my perspective, the most attractive fantasy smut wasn’t smut at all. It was “legit” storytelling that happened to include a larger amount of horniness. I decided to risk going a little bit more plot and exposition heavy and to try to get some characterization in there instead of just throwing us into massive orgies.
